Privacy policy

We collect only what you send us through the contact form, plus basic technical data needed to run and protect this website. We use it to reply to your enquiry. We do not sell or share it for advertising, and we do not add you to marketing lists.

Effective date: 23 October 2026

1. Who we are

RankingsReady is a service of Futurist IP, a company based in Ontario, Canada ("Futurist IP", "we", "us"). Futurist IP is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we are the "controller" of that information.

We have appointed a Privacy Officer, Futurist IP, who is accountable for our compliance with this policy. You can reach the Privacy Officer through our contact form. Please start your message with "Privacy request".

This policy covers this website and enquiries made through it. It does not cover the websites of the legal directories or other sites we link to.

2. What we collect

Information you send through the contact form

  • your name, work email address and firm (required);
  • your role, country and the directories you are interested in (optional);
  • your message;
  • the page of this website you sent the form from.

Please do not send confidential client or matter information through the form. It is for enquiries only.

Technical data

Like any website, ours receives your IP address and basic browser and device information when you visit. Our contact form holds your IP address briefly, in memory only, to limit repeated submissions and stop abuse. Our hosting provider keeps short-term server logs for security and reliability.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to see which pages are visited. It records page views together with general information such as the referring site, country, browser, operating system and device type. It does not use cookies. Instead, it distinguishes visits using a short-lived identifier derived from the incoming request, which, according to Vercel, resets after 24 hours and cannot be used to follow you across days or across other websites. We see the results only as aggregate statistics and do not try to identify individual visitors.

Fonts

The site loads its fonts from Google Fonts. Your browser requests them directly from Google's servers, so Google receives your IP address and browser information. Google's own privacy policy applies to that request.

3. Why we use it, and our legal bases

We use personal information only for the purposes below. Where the GDPR or a similar law applies, we rely on the legal basis shown.

  • Replying to your enquiry and discussing your needs. Legal basis: steps you have asked us to take before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries about our services.
  • Preparing and running an engagement, if you decide to work with us. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
  • Keeping the website and contact form secure, including rate limiting and preventing spam and abuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in protecting the site and its users.
  • Understanding how the site is used, through aggregate analytics, so we can improve it. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a useful website.
  • Meeting legal obligations and establishing, exercising or defending legal claims. Legal basis: legal obligation and legitimate interest.

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), we rely on your consent, which you give when you send us an enquiry. You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions; if you do, we may not be able to continue a conversation or engagement.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making that has legal or similarly significant effects on you, and we do not send you marketing messages unless you have agreed to receive them.

4. Who processes your information for us

We use a small number of service providers. They process information on our behalf, or as needed to provide their service, under contractual terms that require them to protect it.

  • Vercel Inc. (United States) hosts this website, runs the contact form and provides the analytics described above.
  • Resend (United States) delivers contact-form enquiries to our inbox by email.
  • Google LLC (United States) serves the website's fonts.

We may also disclose personal information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or to a successor if our business is reorganised or sold, in which case this policy will continue to apply to it.

5. International transfers

We are based in Canada, and our service providers process information in the United States and possibly other countries. While your information is in another country, it may be accessible to that country's courts, law enforcement and national security authorities under its laws.

Where personal information from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland is transferred, we rely on recognised safeguards. These include the European Commission's adequacy decision for Canada (for information we hold), our providers' certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK and Swiss extensions where applicable, and standard contractual clauses (with the UK Addendum) in our providers' data processing terms. You can ask us for more information about these safeguards through the contact form.

6. How long we keep it

  • Enquiries: up to 24 months after our last exchange, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
  • Engagement records: for as long as the engagement and our legal, tax and accounting obligations require.
  • Rate-limiting data: IP addresses are held in memory for about 10 minutes and are not written to a database.
  • Server logs and analytics: for the limited periods set by our hosting provider.

When we no longer need personal information, we delete it or make it anonymous.

7. Security

We protect personal information with safeguards suited to its sensitivity. This website is served only over encrypted connections (HTTPS), uses strict security headers, keeps access to enquiries limited to the people who need it, and stores service credentials outside the website's code. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy of it;
  • have it corrected if it is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • have it deleted;
  • object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it, including where we rely on legitimate interests;
  • receive it in a portable format;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting what we did before you withdrew it.

To make a request, use our contact form, start your message with "Privacy request" and say what you need. We may ask you to confirm your identity. We will reply within 30 days, or within the time your local law allows, and we will not charge you for a reasonable request or treat you differently for making one.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. If you are in the EEA, the UK or another jurisdiction with its own data protection authority (for example, the UK Information Commissioner's Office or your national EU supervisory authority), you can complain to that authority. We would appreciate the chance to address your concern first.

9. No sale or sharing of personal information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act. We have not done so in the past 12 months. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would give California residents a right to limit it. California residents can use the rights described above, including through an authorised agent.

10. Cookies and similar technologies

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not use third-party advertising tools. Our analytics do not use cookies (see section 2). Your browser may store ordinary technical data, such as cached files, to load pages faster. Because we do not track visitors across websites, we do not respond differently to "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signals, but our practices already match what those signals ask for.

11. Children

This website is meant for legal professionals. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, please tell us through the contact form and we will delete it.

12. Client and matter information during an engagement

Client and matter information you share with us during an engagement is governed by our written engagement agreement and the commitments on our confidentiality page, not by this policy. If they conflict, the engagement agreement applies.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services or the law change. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and we will note significant changes at the top of this page.

14. Contact

For any question or request about this policy or your personal information, contact the Privacy Officer, Futurist IP, through our contact form.
